PROFILE
Why Cairn?
Passion for our projects. Every project, from single-family residence survey to National Historic Landmark nomination, adds to the cultural heritage of our communities and nation.
Experience. Nearly 20 years of cultural resources consulting covering a wide range of projects from Civil War battlefields to the Space Needle in Seattle. Research professionals who utilize extensive online resources or onsite archival work at a local, state, or national level as appropriate.
Multi-disciplinary approach. A background in engineering brings a valuable perspective to our work, particularly when evaluating complex technological systems such as movable bridges, hydroelectric facilities, and naval shipyards. In litigation support or expert witness testimony, an engineering degree carries special weight.
Expertise. A doctorate in history, with specializations in U.S. History, History of the U.S. West, and the History of Science and Technology informs our work. Past stints as a consultant for the National Park Service, historian for Historic American Engineering Record, and on the City of Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board and Architectural Review Committee provide specialized knowledge for specific kinds of projects. Our portfolio includes numerous military, hydroelectric, bridge, railroad and industrial projects.
Seattle-centered with a national reach. From the Pacific Northwest to the East Coast, from Hawaii to Florida, our portfolio and experience includes projects from across the country.
