Washington Portland Cement Company
Historic American Engineering Record (State Level)
This state-level HAER project documented the Washington Portland Cement Company site in Concrete, Washington. The remnants stand as the last physical evidence of the first Portland cement manufacturing facility in Washington, a plant build between 1905 and 1918 during the boom years of the Portland cement industry in the United States. Given the loss of many of the facility’s manufacturing structures over the years, an industrial archaeology approach informed the report’s analysis and conclusions.
